On January 27, 2025, at approximately 4:54am Officers responded to the Bank and Trust Company located at 900 W. Main St. A Union Pacific truck was parked suspiciously with the driver’s door opened and the ATM machine damaged. When Officers arrived, they found a Union Pacific truck unoccupied with a chain on the ground and the ATM heavily damaged. Officers determined the Union Pacific truck had been stolen locally. Upon further investigation the suspect’s vehicle was identified, and the direction of travel was determined by Officers reviewing video surveillance and LPR cameras. Evidence from the theft was recovered on a rural road outside of Carlinville. Thanks to the joint efforts of the Carlinville Police Department, Illinois State Police, Macoupin County Sheriff’s Department and the Macoupin County State’s Attorney’s Office, the suspects have been identified and are in custody in another state on related charges.
